How Do I Get to Vieques Island?

Our island is situated eight miles off the Eastern coast of Puerto Rico and can be reached by air as well as by ferry from Fajardo.

If they do take your reservation they are most likely to give it to a local merchant at the last minute. We recommend flying…it is much faster!

Renting a car is a must, as so many of our greatest beaches are inaccessible without one. We highly recommend rent a car but you also have the choice of renting a scooter or mountain bicycle or hiring your own personal driver who often work as “públicos” dirver. There are several car rental companies on Vieques. The prices

What is there to do in Vieques?

Vieques Island is not commercially developed. There are still plenty of wide-open spaces, country roads and rolling hills. The language spoken most often is Spanish but English is widely spoken. The American dollar is the standard. Most credit cards are accepted in the majority of businesses.
The beaches are amazing, plentiful and empty for the most part. There are no movie theaters, shopping malls or traffic lights. There are a few art galleries, small stores and some local craftsmen. There is great snorkeling and scuba diving and the world's most brightest bioluminescent bay. We would be happy to help you make arrangements to participate in these activities, if you wish. We have no television but we do have a good hard-cover library and perfect weather.
What there "is not to do" here is also Vieques' best feature. Vieques Island gets well seasoned travelers who have been many places and find this the place where they always want to return. They read, walk, sleep, swim, eat and make new friends.
